Select a college, pick your preference, and start a real-time anonymous student chat across colleges and departments.
A place to talk, share, or just read.
“Istorya” is a Masbateño word that means to talk or share a conversation. Here, you can meet another student in private chat, join the public room, or share what’s on your mind in Vent.
Maybe you want a quick conversation, someone from another college to talk to, or somewhere to write about your day. You can choose what feels right without creating an account. It’s okay to start by reading, too.
Pick a chat mode, set your preferences if you want, or browse the latest vents. If you’re curious about how Istorya started, you can read the story behind the project.

Chat privately with another student, join the shared public room, or browse and post in Vent. Private chat is for one-to-one conversations, Public is a live group space, and Vent is for posts and reply threads you can return to.
Istorya is free to use and starts with guest access. You do not need to register or provide an email address. Open setup, choose a mode, and follow the entry prompts and community rules. Installing the app is optional.
Istorya is built for students aged 18 and over. College and gender preferences help with matching, but they are self-selected information, not verified identities.
You can use Istorya in a browser on mobile, tablet, or desktop. Installation is optional and depends on your browser. Save your Vent recovery code before switching browsers or installing so you have a way to restore access to your posts.
Quick Chat looks for someone from any college and any gender, and sets your own college and gender to “Prefer not to say.” Custom lets you choose what to share and who you would like to talk to. Finding a match depends on who is available and whether your preferences fit each other.
There may be few students waiting, especially with narrow preferences. Broader preferences can give you more possible matches. Istorya tries to avoid immediate repeat matches, but cannot guarantee a different person every time.
Use the message menu to reply or copy, and edit your own messages while editing is available. On touch screens, swipe your message left or another person’s message right to reply. Double-tap on mobile, or double-click on desktop, to add a heart; repeat to remove it. Editing uses the regular message field with Save and Cancel controls.
Your browser or phone can pause a connection in the background. Istorya attempts to reconnect when you return and keeps your draft during recovery. A connection drop does not always mean the other person left, but an ended conversation cannot be restored as an active chat.
There is no friends list or search for previous private chat partners. A new match starts a separate conversation, and matching with the same person again is not guaranteed.
Vent lets you share a post without waiting for a live match. Choose a flair and how long it stays in the feed: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or until you delete it. Turn off Allow replies before posting if you do not want comments. When replies are enabled, people can reply to the post or continue a nested conversation.
Open My Vents from the feed, or from the plus menu on mobile. Reply badges help you spot new responses. Save your recovery code privately so you can restore access if you change browsers or lose local access. Without a saved code, clearing browser data may leave you unable to manage your posts.
Private chat can show the college and gender information you chose to share. Public chat lets you choose an optional display name. Vent does not show your real name or a public profile. Anonymous to other users does not mean no technical information is processed; avoid sharing anything you want to keep private.
Chats are temporary and are not a permanent inbox. Public messages are scheduled for cleanup after a few hours. Vents and their replies are stored on Istorya’s server; your chosen duration controls how long a vent remains in the public feed. You can delete your own vent and its replies from My Vents.
You can stop a private conversation at any time. In Vent, use the three-dot menu to report harmful posts or replies. Moderation checks and bans help address abuse, but cannot guarantee every message is safe. Avoid sharing contact details, passwords, or identifying information with strangers.
